Fresh into picture books after working in animation for several years, Mika Song received the Portfolio Award from the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Since then she's had the opportunity to illustrate her own books as well as other authors'. A Friend for Henry by Jenn Bailey and illustrated by Song received the Schneider Family Honor from the American Library Association in 2020. Her graphic novel for early readers Donut Feed the Squirrels is a School Library Journal Pick and has received starred reviews from Booklist and Shelf Awareness. Her comics appear in Sundayhaha.com, a free weekly comics newsletter for kids that she started with Jen de Oliviera in March 2020. She grew up in Manila, Philippines and Honolulu, Hawaii.
